Fast forward/rewind for iPod?
I like to listen to audiobooks on my iPod photo. I can't seem to figure out how to fast forward or rewind these audio tracks so that I can pick up where I left off.
Is there some kind of iPod helper application that will let me control individual audio tracks beyond play and pause? Ideal would be something that would remember where in a given track I left off and start there next time I hit play.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Mike

If you're listening to a song on an ipod, and click Pause and then turn it off, when you turn it back on and click "play" it should start back up where it left off in the song. My ipod shuffle and ancient 1st generation ipod both do this.
As far as being able to arbitrarily skip foward/backward with a track... I don't believe that's possible on an ipod. I don't know how you get a plugin onto an ipod that would let you do that.
I'm not sure if this you care about doing this on a computer as well, but if you want to do it in itunes, it's easy to do. When a song is playing, look in the oval with the track information at the top. Grab the little diamond that indicates the track position in the loooong skinny rectangle under the track title. Then drag it to where you want to go, and you'll skip ahead/backwards.

the forward/back buttons are dual purpose - press and release advances a song, but pressing and holding it down will fast forward or rewind the current song.
or, as mtacchi described, press the middle button to get a scroller to move to any point in the song. it will automatically revert to normal mode after a few seconds.
