Was packing for MUC and could not find my Seinheiser headphones. Last I had seen them they were in back seat of car. Broke down and bought a new (cheaper) pair. Weeks later was having dinner at my mom's house and something about "pesos" came up. My sister says she found a pair of headphones in the street in front of my mom's house a couple weeks back - and there were pesos in the case - from my last GDL trip. Think I had put them in the back of the SUV at some point, then they fell to the back bumper in mom's driveway, then to the street. Amazed I got them back.
Years ago lost my cell phone on the golf course. Took it out of my bag looking for something else on #2, set it on the fender of the cart and forgot about it until #16. Someone picked it up and called my home number and got it back to me.
I also left my cell phone in the overhead on a DL flight in CVG. Realized it in about 10 minutes - gate agents got it for me, but I missed my connection.
Guess I've been lucky with getting things back. Finally I have started putting my name/address/phone on everything I travel with.

A few years ago, I went through security at CDG for an early morning flight. A few minutes later, I realized that I had left my cellphone in the bucket. I went back and the agent had it in his hand. When I asked for it, he countered by demanding I tell him a listing in the memory which he then verified was there. Pretty sharp, huh?
