Well glad that you are okay after that car accident.
I've left a camera on an airplane after it slipped out of my carryon in the underseat storage in front of me. I've also left a Palm M500 in a U-Haul I rented once. Never got either of those back.

For those of you with a Treo 600, you might find this amusing.
I was once at Lake Mead and my cousin's boat trailer had its wheels locked. It was past 10PM and there was just enough light from the stars so see silhouettes, but not much more. The light from the Treo is SO BRIGHT, we used it as a flashlight to try and fix the brakes. Well, about 1/2 hour later, somebody asked for the "light" and ... well .... i don't know where it went. I can only assume it melted in the 117 degree heat the morning.
Thank goodness for Lockline insurance on the phone!

As a FYI, if you purchased on your Amex Plat or similar in the last 90 days, you can probably get the cost reimbursed via one of the card benefit programs. I did this a while back with a lost Airport Express and the process was painless.
And to people using seat pockets- gross. People stuff those full of snot rags - the pockets are never washed. Change habits.

Losing electronics often shows you obviously do not have the responsibilty to take care of them. In your case you couldn't have prevented it. Keep stuff on your self and check the seats to make sure you didn't drop anything.

Some people are simply forgetful about objects, or small objects, or particular small objects. I think it's a matter of whether you've trained yourself to check for the object before leaving someplace.
I've never lost sunglasses, ever, not even as a small child. Nor keys, nor a cell phone, nor portable audio. Those were all as essential as shoes growing up in SoCal, except for the phone-- we had pagers back then. On the flip side, I lost a couple hundred dollars worth of umbrellas before giving up on the concept; I just wear a raincoat now. And as I don't think I've ever kept a pair of gloves for more than 72 hours, I buy coats with lined pockets.
If you're in the habit of losing electronics, stick to the cheap stuff. You can get a CD player and sunglasses for about $25 total at Wal-Mart these days.

Someday us careless Americans might become as cool as the World Class Canadians who loose nothing but baseball games, hockey games, Olympic events and so forth. However this is really good advice and from now on I will be careful unstead of stupid and careless. I am unworthy to carry an ipod. Perhaps I can get a Canadian developed device...whats that?....there are NONE...darn.

Which would be a pain because you would have to go on FMLA after 3 days and fill out so much paperwork you would rather be at work
