Ringo email - is it safe?

Lately my inbox is being bombarded with requests from my friends to add my personal information to their Ringo email account. In the past there have been similar online email data bases that were determined to be unsafe for various reasons. What is the bottom line on Ringo?

Wondered myself...

It sounds like a great idea to me (guess it is more like a phonebook for e-mail) but I looked at their privacy policy and cannot guarantee privacy if they are sold. Makes me a little apprehensive. I, too, have received e-mail requests for me to enter info there.

I hope they have good security.

I am interested to hear what others think.

There were a few items that disturbed me in their "Privacy Policy".

While Ringo will endeavor to require the successor company to maintain this privacy policy, we cannot guarantee that our policy will remain unchanged if Ringo is sold or merges with another company. We will use our best efforts to notify you by email if such a merger or acquisition occurs.
