lap top conversion
We are moving to Australia and recently bought a 3 year old Dell Lap Top and were planning to use it there for our computer needs. We have been told by an unreliable source that computers bought in Canada won't work in Australia. Is this True?

your dvd drive, if you have one, will probably have to be reconfigured to play australian dvds. that's not a big deal tho. most dvd drives come with the ability to change "regions" a few times. You'll get prompted to do that if you put in a DVD from a different region than your drive is configured for.

Don't worry, it will work just fine. Look at your power brick .. it probably says 110v - 220v/230v, 50hz - 60hz. That makes it a universal power adaptor. The only thing you might need is a socket adaptor if the aussies use a different standard electrical plug than we do. Those are cheap.

You have to hold it upside down, because the processor was configured to work with northern hemisphere gravity.
Once I caught onto that, my North American laptop worked fine there. It was U.S., not Canadian, but I think the same would apply.
