I use Easy CD-DA Extractor.
I have been using it for years and it does all I need it to.
Easy to use and a simple interface. ^

This doesn't apply to songs purchased from the iTunes website, but for audio CDs I already own, all I have to do is use iTunes on the desktop to import them to my library (make sure first that under Edit, Preferences, Advanced, Import, you have set the import format to be mp3). Then I use Windows Explorer to copy those mp3 files to an SD drive that I can insert into my Dell Axim. Nothing sneaky about this; it's straight from the iTunes Help instructions for people who aren't using iPods.
