Lingo VOIP ; first experiences
I jsut recieved my 30 day trial Lingo VOIP adapter.
Initial finds are that it's easier to get working than Vonage, but that it's sound quality isn't as good. I have clicks and "beeps" on the line every now and then.
I'm gonn give it almost the full 30 days and will make a load of international calls, I'll report back when I have more

Have you talked with customer service yet?? I am curious how your tech support experiences are - I have heard mixed things.

She was friendly but fairly useless and looking up stuff took forever.
It's going back this week. I'm sticking with Vonage.

I cancelled the service today, sound quality is poor, as is their customer service.
Their plan is extremely cheap, but it's obvious that that comes with a cost.
So far I'm very content with Vonage and will jsut stick with them, despite having some issues with their 911 service (when I tested it it was answered by a non-emergency number).

Do any of these US-based VoIP services allow international call forwarding? I wish Vonage would let me forward calls to my French mobile. You would think it would be a good revenue generator for them, but maybe they are afraid of fraud?

Despite some of the comments here, the new Lingo Universal number sounded too good to pass up. Therefore for the last two days I have tried to order, but can't and get the following message on the second sign up page:
Page Flow Unhandled Exception
Exception: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException
Message: java.lang.ClassCastException@8259eb
Not too good, huh?

The Lingo folks have some very ambitious growth plans and on their website now they say they have the ability to give you numbers in many countries around the world with more to come. Some other plans that can't be discussed yet will be great for frequent fliers. But the proof is in the pudding and they have a lot of execution to take care of to get this all running well.
