Anyone have experience with Bluetrek?

The Scala 500 turned up in Amazon's Friday Sale list today, although it's actually from J&R, not Amazon. So I guess it won't be free shipping. $36.99, not quite as low as eCost. $4.95 minimum shipping takes it up to $41.94 out the door. JandR site says it's 8% off for today only, so that's only a bit over 3 bucks off, but close to the eCost price and maybe ships sooner since eCost is backordered.

Turns out the shipping is 95 cents more on Amazon. Weird. Might as well order direct then.

Based on the notes here and the price, I think I might try one.

Mine shipped today.

I called eCost yesterday, and they were quoting a February 13th ship date, but it looks like I got one of the units from an earlier batch.

I purchased the Motorola HS850 about a couple of months ago. They haven't released it in the States yet (at least they hadn't before the holidays) so I picked one up on a trip to London back in November. You can get it from select retail importers in the States, though. The Euro ones are black and the US ones are silver I think. Mechanically, they are identical.

It is bluetooth 1.2, which supposedly has better reception and faster connect times (I use it with a Moto Cingular V551). Mine connects very quickly and the battery life is decent. It has never lost a call. Other people can hear me just fine, as if I am using the mouthpiece of the phone. The only two complaints I have are (1) that, while comfortable, it is a bit large for my ear and doesn't quite securely wrap around my ear (small ear?). The other (2) is that I have to make sure the sunroof and windows are closed because the earpiece volume isn't as loud as I would like.

Oh, and voice-recognition and one-touch button are easy to use, which is a big plus for me since I took the time to add it=n voice dialing for my most-used numbers.

My Cardo Scala 500 arrived today from eCost.com....

After the inital charge for 4 hours, I must say...this headset rocks! ^

Very small compared to my small Jabra...better sound quality too! My friends could even tell I was talking to them from a headset!

Hope to test it outdoors tomorrow, but so far I am quite impressed!

Thanks for the recommendation! ^

Depending on the use, you might want to check out the Jabra SP100 speakerphone. It is a Bluetooth speakerphone that you can use as a hands free in a car, or at a desk for that matter. I just got one and love it. Well, I got two, sent the first one back because it seemed to have loose circuit and would cut out but the replacement (which was free) is great. I much prefer it to having to wear a headset in the car. The sound quality on both ends is very good. I use it at home too so the spousal unit and I can both talk to relatives on the phone. It is a nice alternative to an earpiece (I have a couple of them too).

I just got a Moto HS810 yesterday. I got it for free from Motorola after they had a promotion to give them away to the first 1000 people to register their mpx220 in October. I didn't think there was any way I'd get one and they never sent me anything, but here it is February and a box showed up on my doorstep. I like it very much! Good sound quality and comfortable to wear. The only thing is the boom keeps resting up against my cheek and then people say I sound muted. If I pull it away slightly they say I sound perfect. I keep fiddling with it to get the boom to stay away from my cheek. It's still new though, so I probably just don't have the hang of putting it on right yet or something. Overall I'm very happy with it and would recommend it.

I am glad that people liked the Scala, I love it. But I can take credit for choosing it, my brother-in-law gave it to me for xmas

It's back at eCost, for the next 30 minutes at $35

Does it make any difference which Bluetooth headset you purchase if you are opting for the Treo 650? Is the Cardo Scala 500 still the best choice of what is available out there?

I don't think it makes a difference.

The Cardo has been working very well for me, maybe the more expensive Jabra sets are superior, but for the price that the Cardo has, it's a very good choice.

So far ;)

I've got one coming in a week, I'll post some results thereafter,
I like the BT200 and bt250 that I have been using for a couple of years, hoping this is better, sound wise outdoors and I like the calling ID function.

Depending on the use, ie if for use in a car, I would very highly recommend the Jabra SP100. Instead of a headset it is a speakerphone with a swing out boom microphone. It can clip to the visor of your car. I got one a short time ago and it has fantastic sound quality in my opinion. I also bring it in the house so my wife and I can both talk on the phone at the same time with family members. I have been using it for a while now and really prefer it to having something in my ear. I can listen to the radio in the car and if a call comes in just turn the radio off and hit the receive button on the speakerphone. It is a real nice system.

Been trying to get my hands on one, but they're sold out everywhere, or haven't even arrived in stock yet. Can't wait to hear some reviews...

not in yet

yeah, they are really not here yet. All the ebay ads are for units that have come from abroad. Supposedly, hello direct, will get them before anyone, on the 28th of February . then, they will ship by the 2nd.

I should have mine by the 3rd then. :-)
