Internal Bluetooth Error ????

I'm hoping that someone here can be of help in this.....Thanks in advance! Here's the situation: I have a Siemens S56 with Bluetooth as well as a Sony Erricson Bluetooth car kit. Both function fine almost all the time.

However, from time to time when I recv a call (usually from a "mobile" phone) I get a message - instead of caller ID - which says:
'Internal bluetooth error #212'.

I have called ATT, Siemens, Googled a search, and no one can find anything as to what this means. The effect of this "error" is to shunt my caller to V-mail, and then occasionally to cause my Car kit to fail to recognize my phone. (Not a real problem as I just have to 're-acquaint' them, but a hassle)

I know that I've seen "forums" such as FT where phone gurus 'reside' but can't seem to remember where....Perhaps someone knows about Bluetooth errors or can point me in the right direction of one of these forums.

Best wishes, Dave

The second is probably more technical but has a pretty bad S/N ratio.

I'd bet your handset needs a firmware update - the S56 earlier versions had quite a few problems.

alan - Thanks so much for the forum info...that's the one I was looking for. As far as a "firmware update" goes...How would I know 1) whether this was neccessary, or 2) how to go about getting one. I just purchased the phone in Late December, so it doesn't "seem" like that should be the problem, but perhaps it was simply an "old" phone but new in the box.

Best wishes, Dave

bseller; Go to an ATTWS shop... persuade them via a little BS that "a friends" phone works fine in your car kit, yours doesn't. Ask them to swap the phone out for a newer firmware rev version. Most ATTWS stores are clueless on firmware updates (even Cingular and T-Mobile can do these in store)

Thanks for the advice Nick.....I checked and see that my firmware is version 6, which I understand "may" be the most up to date version. Are you aware of a newer version?

Is there any reason to suspect that this "Bluetooth Error" is in fact the result of firmware, or could it be something else at play here? Thanks in advance....Dave

This sounds more like a software issue in the Bluetooth carkit, are you having the carkit speak incoming caller ID's? how are they connected, is the bluetooth connection between them "always on" or only initiated on incoming calls?

Sometimes the phone might want to transfer the call and the carkit reacts too slowly, sadly mixing brands like this increases the chance of problems, especially with the pretty weak Bluetooth implementation Siemens has.

How are they bonded, as headset or as handsfree device?

FWIW, you don't seem to be alone:

(unless that IS you...)

4) After using the headset in my car, if I put the headset back on the charging cradel or turned it off and went somewhere, when I next recieved a call the phone would begin to ring but then immediately cut off displaying a message: "Internal Bluetooth Error (212)". This caused me to miss several calls..

Try Sony Ericsson... I'm going through a firmware rev issue on my Bluetooth car kit in which it only recognizes Headset and not handsfree, even though most new phone are ONLY supporting handsfree now. (minor software change)...
