Please keep the posts to "Travel Technology"
I ask that we please keep the posts here to "Travel Technology" related items (Products/services that travelers will likely use/encounter - PDA's, laptops, hotel high speed internet connections, cell phones, digital cameras, MP3 players, portable DVD players, Internet Cafe's, etc). I'm willing to be broad minded, but as moderator, I have to draw the line somewhere.
If your question is not "Travel Technology" related, I ask that you post it on one of the many general/specific technology oriented message boards loacted throughout the web.
Just doing my job, folks.
Thanks

we need a technology forum. When ScottC posted about Windows vs Mac in Omni, it was moved here. FlyerTalkers in general are more technologically saavy than other boards, except for specialized PC boards. We really need this channel to talk about these topics.

It's not a "quantity" issue. If the volume of messages gets to high, I'll request they add another moderator.
Here is how I look at it: All of the forums in Flyertalk are "travel" specific, except for OMNI. Based on that, and the original description given to this forum, I believe those who visit here expect to see messages that are "travel" technology related. I know I did when I first joined.
If the Flyertalk administration update the description at somepoint, that's fine with me.

I would be in favor of defining the scope of this forum to be relatively broad, to include non-travel technology topics. This is a useful place to ask ignorant questions and get helpful advice from some very knowledgable people, and sometimes get pointers to other sites. And I think the "quantity" issue is somewhat relevant. If there were so many non-travel messages that it became difficult to discuss travel tech, that would make a stronger case for focusing on travel tech. But I don't think we're in any danger of that at the moment.
Anyway, happy to abide by whatever the rules are, but would prefer a broader forum.

I personally would appreciate an all thing technical forum, easier to moderate and easier to find the help you need to answer any questions preventing it from getting lost in the wilderness of Omno...

I'm not as technical as some members here, but I can occasionally lend some helpful advice. If threads are moved to OMNI I won't be able to post there because I haven't registered for OMNI.
I defer to the moderators in this situation, but I do hope that a variety of tech topics are allowed to remain in this forum.
