I bought myself one of these headsets 2 days ago. The installation was easy and they worked right away. But the sound really sucks! No way to control the bass. They sound like a old mono radio from the 60´s

Anyone know how to control the bass settings in Win XP? I can´t adjust it the same way as I can with my regular sound card. Logitech does not provide any support online for this model yet and no drivers to download. I´m really disapointed paying 60USD for this!!

The sound device has to support it, if it does it will be in your volume control under options>advanced controls.

Correct, it is normal for the bass setting to show up in the sound mixer. But when in advanced mode it only shows the volume settings for: Speakers, Wave, SW Synth, CD Player and Microphone. No bass or other more advanced settings are shown (they do show if I switch to my Nvidia NForce 2 sound adapter instead of the USB Logitech headset). My guess is that this headset has it owns inbulit sound processor and does not use the Nvidia card at all. Problem might be in the device drivers and Logitech does not have any new drivers released yet

My advice is to stay away from this headset!

Yes, the Logitech has it's own USB sound card, not all soundcards support bass/treble and it's obvious that this one doesn't. I prefer the Plantronics USB headsets.

Just out of morbid curiosity, why did you buy this product? It isn't as if there's a shortage of headphone jacks on a computer. I just don't see any need for usb speakers or headphones...

I use them too, analogue headphone jacks simply don't have the same quality as a dedicated DSP driven headset, plus the outputs on a PC can drive the headset OR speakers and I don't like diving behind my PC each time I want to make a voip call.

My old analogue headset fell apart a few weeks ago. I choosed this Logitech model since it was comfortable when I tried it in the shop (it was not connected so I didn´t notice the sound quality). I also thought it was time to try a digital version.
This headset is ok for VOIP calls but for games and music it simply sucks. I will call Logitech to see if they can help me with better device drivers. Maybe it´s possible to find a tweak utility that can power up the bass.

There is talk of a digital low cost interface for PC audio to do HIGH quality audio via USB WHILE still using a dedicated DSP on the PC (e.g. a Creative SoundBlaster 64 or nForce2 audio, etc).

There are ways to do passthrough today for this stream, but you have to ensure latency issues are addressed otherwise audio will be a few hundred miliseconds off sync.

Your biggest enemy with USB speakers or headphones *IS* going to be CPU utilization as the OS handles the stream and this takes sometime away from anything else (e.g. more noticeable in some games)

Also if you have a digital output on your audio chip/card, try these (expensive) but nice...

No. It has it's own "soundcard" built in.

Scott is right... Today on PC's it is NOT possible.

There is a provision to start to get digital headphones supported in Longhorn.

Bottom line is DSP's with HW 3D Audio WILL be standard on all PC's by 2005... Hope is that a standard for either USB passthrough OR digital headphones with a more flexible (from a plug in plug out perspective over optical) will come forward.

Have you looked at using the optical Sony's I mentioned

I have those Sony's and absolutely agree with Nick in advising them, they are not cheap but sound is awesome. All I miss on them is a remote control.

But US499 is really too much for me (unless I can buy them for miles ). And i´m still in need of that microphone feature.
