SIM card for Mexico

Does anyone know where I can obtain one? I will be spending a week in Puerto Vallarta over the New Year and need to stay in touch.
Thanks

Ed

Your US cell phone should roam with no problems in Mexico. What provider do you have? Also, I dont know how good coverage may be in those beach areas, but that another issue all together.

Wow! Talk about a fast response. I am Verizon. I just assumed that it would not work in Mexico. I guess I need to call vrizon for sure. Oc coruse, then the quesiton is how much they will charge to roam.
I do have an unlocked R520M and was thinking that a SIM I could insert may be the easiest/cheapest way to go, but was unable to find a Mexico SIM on the net.

All you need to do I think is call Verizon and get international roaming turned on, shouldn't be a problem for any good standing accounts.

Where Service Is Available
With Verizon Wireless service, you can place and
receive calls throughout most of the United States,
Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. You can also
make and receive calls in Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas,
and the East Caribbean, but not to the same extent as
in the U.S. For qualifying accounts, your service can
be enabled for direct dialing to international locations
from certain areas. If youÕre traveling overseas, we
may also be able to arrange for a phone rental. Please
contact Customer Service for details.</font>

CDMA roaming? ScottC, are you mad? You could be right, I have no idea.

You can also buy a Telcel SIM in most bodegas and tobacco shops.

According to this list these are the current active CDMA networks in Mexico so I presume Verizon just means it's possible to roam using the same phone:

http://www.cellular-news.com/coverage/mexico.shtml

Iusacell CDMA n/a n/a 1900
Telefonica Moviles CDMA n/a n/a 1900
Sistemas Profesionales de Comunicacion CDMA n/a n/a ?
Telefonia Celular del Norte (NORCEL) CDMA n/a n/a ?
Telefonica Moviles CDMA n/a n/a 800
Telefonica Moviles CDMA n/a n/a 800
Unefon CDMA n/a n/a ?
