Bottom line is it's a $10 chip set which is a lot when your total BOM is around $55.
Don't get me wrong, I use a BT-enabled phone (T68i) myself, but the majority of the market doesn't seem to be interested.

2) As Nick says, they don't even have a BT stack in their software so any company that DOES want BT can't even use it...
3) Even though BT data is still a major PITA many people want to use BT headsets.

If we ever see or plan to see any of you at a meetup, you're welcome to borrow my Orange SPV Windows Smartphone... (actually I'd likely give it away or sell it if anyone liked it... haven't really found anyone to punt it off to yet)

BT Chipsets flogged for the sub $3 SHOULD be including any licensed royality into their chipset prices. I have NOT seen BT royality payments being broken down into a seperate payment like they do with Dolby licensing.
You can implement a BT chipset and radio (integrated into the baseband) for aprox $5 depending on volumes, even less if you do more integration ($3 or less)
