self-reseting PC clock
Sorry if this is too far off topic, but I don't know who else to ask. Ever since daylight saving time, my PC computer clock keeps reseting itself back to standard time. I have tried checking and unchecking the daylight savings time check box on the Windows 2000 set time and date control panel, I have set it to Alaska time. Every time I set the clock to the correct time, my computer automatically resets itself to Pacific standard time. Are there any utilities or other cryptic settings that I may have tweaked that are automatically synchronizing my clock to the wrong time that I can turn off>

How about any "atomic clock" utilities that query the NIST time server and update your clock. If you've set it to be a certain delta from GMT (or coordinated universal time, or whatever it's called) you'd get the symptoms you see. Could you have installed one of those? Look in your startup folder.
PS: Try rebooting with the cable modem disconnected from your PC. If the problem goes away, I'd suspect a utility like I've mentioned.

Even though you set the time, did you also set the correct time zone?
Another option is to look into the BIOS time, reboot and try entering the BIOS by pressing <DEL> or the key it shows.

It gets weirder and weirder. I did install an atomic clock sync program after this started happening, and this program resets my clock to the correct time. I do have the control panel set to the correct time zone. The synchronization seems to occur at 30 minutes past the hour, and I do not have to be connected to the internet or my LAN.
I can't figure out how to look at the BIOS clock. When I hold down the F8 key at boot up, I have my choice of starting in safe mode or debug mode, but no options to look at the BIOS settings. Holding down the delete key did nothing.

Try exiting to DOS (Start->Run->"cmd" (without the quotation marks)->OK). Type type "time" and then hit Enter. Enter the correct time (mine shows it in 24 hour mode). Then type "exit" and hit Enter to close the DOS window.
