How well do Sprint PCS and Verizon work in Hawaii?

Hi,

I actually meant to ask about Sprint and Cingular.

After checking coverage maps, both Sprint and Cingular have service in Hawaii. But from your experience, how good is the service there? Specifically, I am looking for info. about reception on the island of Oahu.

Thanks.

I used Verizon last month on Oahu (HNL), in Maui and the Big Island. No problems.

I'm not sure about Sprint but you shouldn't have problem with Verizon since GTE covered Hawaii and Verizon is product of Bell Atlantic and GTE.

BTW, I had Cellular One (now Singular) and except for remote areas, mine worked OK.

While changing planes at HNL in Dec. and Jan., I used my Sprint PCS phone at the airport. Inside, the phone was cutting out. But once I stepped outside, it worked fine. Can't really say about anyplace else around Oahu.

On our last business trip there, my co-worker had no problems with Sprint PCS around Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, and all points in between.

Last trip to Oahu in February, Sprint PCS worked fine throughout the island. Both incoming and outgoing calls.

Cingular (the old PacBell GSM) works fine except on Lanai.
