Win 10 Maps: Can it locate using a GPS?

Win 10 Maps: Can it locate using a GPS?

I've just noticed the Maps function in Win 10 now offers downloadable maps (might have before, like on Win Phone 8 but didn't appear to last year). Just wondering if it can read/locate with GPS info?

Might be smoother and easier to use than MS Streets n' Trips and Autoroute, both of which haven't been updated since the 2013 versions.

They could if they have access to the WiFi locations mapping like Google does with Google Map. Most PC/laptops don't have GPS chip built in so only way to locate the device is via WiFi location mapping.

No wi-fi (a lot of where we're going is *really* remote) or tethered data.

I have a USB GPS device that works with the above-mentioned s/w (as well as some nautical navigation s/w). There appears to be a driver (turboirc - not free) that converts the data to something the current GPS standard that Windows uses (for security, reportedly) but I don't want to pay for it.

I just like doing this:
