Live streaming for the technologically inept
I'm getting married in a couple weeks and we opted to forego a videographer. However, a couple loved ones are now unable to make it because of health reasons. I would love to find a solution for streaming/recording the ceremony, and am looking for an easy solution.
Most/all of the people are Mac/iPhone people, but I understand there are functionality issues with trying to do group Facetime chats.
Professionally I use Zoom, and I know I could host a video meeting on there, possibly even with two camera angles (though only one microphone to avoid feedback). Plus, we could record it. And presumably it would be easy enough for people to watch, since it doesn't require a particular OS.
Before I go too far down that road, does anyone have any other ideas?

Any of the video conferencing or web sharing platforms (GoToMeeting, Zoom, Slack, Skype etc) would be the easiest option. For around $100 you can pick up a HD USB camera with a decent microphone.

Live streaming require a reliable internet source, which may not be available during the ceremony. Also - there is practically no opportunity for troubleshooting in case of a problem (i.e. do you care about the ceremony more, or those who are watching?).
There are simply too many potential problems for live streaming that traditional video recording is a better method.
Also - a small suggestion - you can send the video in a removable media to those who can't come as a token of appreciation.

Good points.
I would definitely use the recording option on Zoom so even if the streaming fails, we'd have the video (at least on the host computer). But agree re. troubleshooting -- we'd almost certainly test it out the day before and I would have to give detailed written instructions to whomever handled it, but yes, if it doesn't work, the only people who will be aware of that are the people trying to view it. There is no mid-stream troubleshooting.

Just did something similiar for DD's destination wedding.
We video recorded it and broadcasted it the next day (time zone differences). As there is no need for live feedbacks this was simple.
Record, download to the computer back at accommodations and you are off to the races. Troubleshooting Zoom and all the connections at a different site is just not worth the time and trouble unless you have a dedicated crew.
Congratulations
Enjoy your wedding without worrying about live broadcast.
Since you are getting married, KISS would be a good motto for this.

Three years in a row I have done a Facebook live show for March Madness. I use free OBS software. There is a learning curve but if you don't want to get too fancy, it is pretty easy. You can publish to Facebook, Youtube and others. You actually don't need that great of internet depending upon the resolution you push out. I have great internet and send out 720p although I could have probably pulled off 1080. I mostly was saving the bandwidth of the receivers of the video. We had 295 live viewers this year.

Do the people not attending all have Facebook Live? If so, that would be my first choice for quick and easy live streaming. And it saves the video for you to watch later too.

No, a couple don't have Facebook. And I was hoping to get the multiple camera angles that Zoom would offer (though admit I'm not sure if FB Live allows that as well).

Regardless, OBS and others, certainly allow for live streaming to Youtube.
