Go with jetogo if you want more networks. $1/GB is a decent price for travel esim roaming in London/much of EU

How is jetogo? I'm fond of non-expiring and reliable esims, even if they're a bit more expensive.
I would look at the other payg esims with regional routing for lower latency too - roamless, nxtlsim, and maybe qrispy. It's possible for roamless to force routing via north america always, (though some users don't have this feature) , while the other two are just based on your location and you cannot force it

So you purchased that Lycomobile UK eSIM from the UK site and it roams on EE?

Yes, Lycamobile UK is a UK MVNO that uses EE only. When you use it, you should get a local UK IP address Apparently you have to cancel or they will charge you again? And there's report of a data hack and people getting charges put on their cards for something unrelated. |

IIRC (I had a Lyca eSIM last fall and used it for just under a month), I turned off automatic payments and that was sufficient.

For those with dual sim iPhones, IMS solves the texting issue using your primary US voice line in conjunction with the roaming esim service. I believe iPhone 13's and newer all have this capability.
If you are not familiar with the IMS function, there are several threads here on FT that have all the details. Basically it uses two lines, with one for voice/texting, and the second, roaming line as a simulated WiFi service. Your home carrier must have WiFi calling available for some features. |

So if my family that uses all newer iPhones, travels in Europe with an eSIM, we can all use iMessage without having to resort to using WhatsApp ?

I am currently working on a new esim site which provides QR's directly from different vendors. Atm I have 4 vendors plugged into it(3 more soon) and it only displays the cheapest on the frontend with a small markup on my side to cover the server costs etc.
95% of the time it is cheaper than Airalo and others, due to reselling prices being super extremely cheap. I can pretty much price match any other rate out there due to how many providers I have linked up. Every night it pulls latest prices and recalculates everything to always show the cheapest rate. Would people here be interested in such a site? Or do you tend to stick to the "big named players"? I'd love to know from frequent travellers before fully developing the ios/android app. Atm it's a website only. |

Yeah you either have to call in or use their app or website. The latter two requires creating an account and storing a credit card with them.

I haven't needed the feature yet, but on my Pixel 9a, when I set up my e-sim (using Airolo only so far), I can choose whether to use my physical sim or e-sim differently for SMS, internet or telephone. So I could use the physical SIM for SMS to my regular number (e.g. for banking) and the e-sim for everything else.
Perhaps your phone allows something similar. Hopefully helpful for someone. |

I find the "big name" players like Airalo are always more expensive and the service of some of the smaller players is just as good or better. I think the most important bits to worry about relate to problems when installing and using an eSIM for the first time. If you can help with that at a lower cost it sounds like a win. And a web site seems fine. Who wants yet another app to have to use (unless the app itself allows connectivity from anywhere so you can actually purchase an eSIM using it).

Presumably you realize there are dozens if not hundreds of sites that already do this? Most recently I've been using yohomobile.com who do this, and even take it a step further by giving you multiple options for each country, generally with different prices/benefits, and let you choose. There's nothing special about Yoho - as I said there's countless others that do exactly the same thing.
