Parental control software recommendation mac

Hi guys, I'm looking for parental control software which enabled website blocking. It's for Mac. I tried the built-in parental control on osx, however, it seems to be broken. Even in its highest setting which supposedly only allow website on whitelist, it's still able to go to youtube.

I also tried to put youtube on block list, yet I'm still able to go there.

are you looking for just website blocking? Or more of an admin type thing to prevent "stuff" from happening on the device?

We control all that through our router. Is that an option?

I just want the website blocking. He doesn't have the admin rights, thus I don't worry about stuff happening on the desktop. He needs the desktop to do his school assignment and khan academy on the weekdays, however, I'm tired of catching him watching youtube all the time when he's not supposed to

Not really, he's not the only one who use the desktop.

To start with, you might want to set Parental Controls parameters through that control pane in System Preferences. If those don't do what you need, then you can look for another solution.

That's what I did, it blocks other website but not youtube.

Perhaps an offline solution is in order? "If I catch you watching Youtube when you're supposed to be studying, I take your cell phone for the rest of the day" kind of thing...

He need the computer to do some of his school assignments. In his case, he also learn math a lot better with khan academy.

FWIW, I found some solution. OSX parental control still have lots of bugs. I finally able to block youtube on Safari, but not on Chrome or firefox, eventhough osx parental control block other websites on chrome & firefox. Thus, I block his access to other internet browser except safari. I still have to put some weird ip address on my whitelist even when I have put the website address on my whitelist.
