I moved three lines to Fi under the S21 pre-order promotion. Was supposed to get $120 for my old phone (I hate selling on eBay) and was to get 50% of the cost of the two S21s back in credits ($625 per phone).
... Weeks of this nonsense and I finally left Fi about 30 days after I started. Left with no other choice, I'm in the middle of suing Google. So, in short, out $1,300, had to switch service, frozen Google Pay account, and a lawsuit.

When I was last a Fi member I ported my # over to them. However, I'm now considering getting a second # and phone. When I sign up for Fi can I get a new number? Does that # have to be where my address is? Or can the area code be anywhere I choose?

They ask for the address where you plan on using the phone the most and assign a number local to that address. It doesn't have to be your billing or shipping address--if you want a number from $randomtown, put in City Hall as your usage address. |

I have a 212 number with them. I put in Las Vegas as my home address since state taxes there are 4% vs. something like 18% in New York State.

I have been using two phones for years, an older iPhone and Pixel (for FI). Going to finally upgrade my iPhone. How have the dual sim iPhones been? Is one still limited on the networks. As I vaguely recall an old drawback to the iPhone was FI couldn't fully utilize all the available networks or something of that nature.

That said, dual-sim works great. You could do what I did and run Visible and Fi simultaneously on the same iPhone. |

Thanks! Are there similar limitations outside the U.S.?

This data point might be of interest to a small subset of Fi-using FTers:
I signed up to Fi while I was living in the US. I moved to Europe and because of SARS-CoV-2 haven't set foot on US soil since 2019. I've also not been anywhere else much since early 2020 and so haven't made much use of Fi. This month, I was able to transfer my Fi service and eSIM to a new Pixel 5 without any issues. |
I keep reading that excessive roaming with Google Fi can lead to problems. What if I have two lines in my account where line 1 is always roaming, but line 2 is always in the US say, my girlfriend? Will this still lead to problems with Google?

I can't imagine anyone being worse than TMobile, but ATT probably fits the bill as it was their poor service that drove us to TMobile in the first place. I will say that having the TMobile 55+ package for $45/line for two lines including unlimited everything, tethering, 5G, inflight Wifi and Netflix is hard to beat as a total value, and it seems we can deal with some of the signal problems at home by using wifi calling on TMobile which was not an option with ATT. The problem I had with both ATT and Tmobile on my iPhone 7+ and now my 12 Pro Max, is the constant cutting in and out, signal drops, silent pauses etc. Both are/were bad, but ATT was marginally worse.
If I switched to the Fi service, I would still be on the TMobile network, but I would lose all the extra included features. Perhaps Verizon is a better signal, but our phones don't work on their network. It seems like Google Fi is quite competitive and I'm strongly leaning on signing up for use in Europe and Asia. |

I have given up on the Google Fi concept if 5G is not possible, but TMobile's poor coverage is driving me crazy so I am trying to figure out if it's worthwhile switching to Verizon or will I just have the same frustration with them. |
