When I clicked on this I got an "error 404 that's an error" screen (using Chrome). Tried various other browsers, re-opening browser, clear cache, etc. Any idea why I'm unable to access that link?

tried that, but still get 404. I suspect I'm missing something obvious, but can't figure it out. I can get there on the Chrome browser in my smart phone (android) but that's it.

If you are not logged in, it will actually ask for your username and password. Here is the link that works on my Firefox browser:

Well I don't have an Android device but I use Google Maps while logged into my account, so that I can search places on the desktop Google Maps, star some POIs and then access them on my iPhone.

So it tracked everything. I guess if I log into Google Maps on iOS, I can't turn off the logging of the history.

Sure you can. Log into the Google location history webpage, go into settings, and disable it.

No, you probably just turned it off previous. I get the same as you.

Even with it off, the various Google location-based stuff still all works fine - it just doesn't keep a history.

When you turn off history, are you turning off logging going forward or turning off the accumulated data?

Or both?

It's two different things.

Turning off history will NOT clear the history they already have - just step it being collected going forward.

But you can also delete the history they already have as a separate step.

Instructions on how to do both should be available by clicking on the settings icon from the URL included above.

I don't know whether I should be pleased or worried that it's not entirely accurate. It places me at our vacation home in mid-coast Maine on 9/29/2013 at 8:20pm, then just outside of Providence, RI at 9:32pm the same day . . . 184 miles away as the crow flies.
