I'd like to throw out AirBnB, but of course it's much more than just an Android app.

I've used AirBnB twice now with great success.

For tracking Football (aka soccer) I use "The Football App" (free), has all the information I need, alerts, etc and score updates are almost immediate.

Radar Spotter

Not sure if this is already mentioned in last year's thread, but downloaded this app a few weeks ago, but already a favorite of mine: "Radar Spotter".

Start the app and point it at any flight you can see in the sky and it will tell you flight details including route, airline, flightnumber, registration and distance from your current location.
Free version will do all of the above, paid version has some additional features

I like Apex Launcher, a launcher that adds lots of customization options to home screens and docks.

I'm also a fan of My Movies Pro to keep track of my BluRay and DVD collection.

And I keep track of my automotive maintenance and gas mileage with aCar, the best such app I've tried.

I use Perfect Keyboard Pro. Lots of nice customization options, including key sizes and colors, and cursor keys which can optionally toggle on/off by swiping up/down on the space key.

On the launcher front, the Google Experience Launcher has completely changed the way I interact with Android, in a positive way. Though sometimes Google Now is scary good at predicting what I' want before I even know myself.

Can you tell us more about how the GEL works? I tried it for a little while when I got my new phone (a Droid Maxx which is terrific), but I didn't find any real advantages. I didn't give it much of a chance though. I don't think the Droid Command Center widget worked on it, and I've come to like that widget quite a lot.

This might help:

Earlier version of GEL back in late 2013

Newer 2014 edition

http://www.droid-life.com/2014/02/05...-old-launcher/

The downside:
I believe widgets won't work if you use this launcher.....

Ah, that explains it. Thanks for the links.

Widgets work. They don't scroll though.

I like the fact that I can ask a query at any time with "OK Google...". Always having Google Now on the far left screen is also quite helpful.

Newbie to android - so I may be way off base. It doesn't seem to work for Moto G. Maybe others with Moto G and GEL can comment?

My recollection is that GEL was originally a Nexus 5 'default' launcher that was then available from non-Google Play sources....

I will investigate further and report back.

I love Swype but would like to try Swiftkey as well.

I like the gmail app rather than the native mail app because the search seems better.

I love audible. Also DoNotDisburb.

google Translate.

That's correct. Google just released an update with the new name Google Now Launcher. It looks like they're getting ready to release it to the Play market.

I suppose I should have qualified my statement: it works without issue (well, except the lack of widget scrolling) on my Samsung Galaxy Note II running CyanogenMod 11 nightlies. I generally run three widgets: Eye In the Sky Weather "Cities" widget, Google Voice inbox widget, and Agenda Widget. I only wish Agenda Widget woudld scroll, but it's not a deal breaker.

Thanks, I hadn't seen the updated version. As I noted at least some widgets do work, though it doesn't seem to support widget scrolling.
