Questions for 'Waze' experts
I finally tried out on trip to north carolina, side by side with garmin nuvi. Drove my wife crazy having two gps units talking to me
Anyway, couple of questions:
1. On iPhone4s Verizon network, running on 3G signal, how much data does it use for a couple of hundred mile trip[s]?
2. I assume it's quite normal to drain the iPhone battery? On the way down, I had it plugged in but on drive back from Washington DC to CT, almost drained battery after 4+ hours.
Thanks

Don't know about data...but sounds about right concerning the battery drain. GPS navigation can really suck a lot out of a battery. I use Waze a lot, and there are times when I'm also running the Bluetooth for music in my car, other apps, and Waze and the charger barely keeps the battery % steady.

waze is very minimal on data, i had run out of data on my plan and i was able to use it for about 4 days with less than 100meg, this was a year or more ago, but still it was very minimal, but it does use up the battery. I leave mine plugged into the power in the car.

Using a hi-output car charger (10W or 2 amps +) to keep up with the extra drain on the iPhone/iPad when running NAV/GPS apps - unless it's offline ones - especially if bluetooth on, screen staying on (same for Android devices running NAV.)
Ordinary, 5W or 1 amp car charger is fine for iPhone use while driving. Compare to graphics-intensive mobile web browsing, maps & navigation do not use a lot of data.
