awesome, I'm glad that helped
I've been using TrueCrypt for probably 5 years or so, what I like the most is that you don't have a massive slowdown pushing files in or out of the encrypted volume.
(hopefully someone can solve your bookmarks issue, cause I'd like to know the answer to it too
)

Hey, this is great! The last question I have is: I went on to a different computer onto Dropbox.com (once again assuming my laptop gets stolen) to access my files in the folder BoxCryptor. Everything is there but I cannot open the files?
Even when I try to open them from DropBox or redownload to my mac, the files wont work.
Ok I will definitely check that out after I figure out this BoxCryptor thing. I've been at this all day! Thanks for the suggestion!
and Thanks for the help everyone! Can't believe how many people help on Flyertalk and ZERO helpers in the mac and other technology forums.

On someone else's comment... I love TrueCrypt as well, but I found boxcryptor more convenient for everyday use

I've been using a 100MB TrueCrypt volume with Dropbox to hold all my travel stuff (scan of passport, medical info, contact information, and whatnot) for a while and wanted to pass along a couple of tips to anyone else considering it.
First create a TrueCrypt container in Dropbox with some indistinct name like My bowling stats.dat
Now create a shortcut on your desktop which reads:
"C:\Program Files\TrueCrypt\TrueCrypt.exe" "d:\Dropbox\My bowling stats.dat" /a /e /q
(obviously replace the d:\Dropbox... part with your Dropbox folder & filename.)
Right click on the shortcut and pick some happy icon.
Now when you click on that shortcut it will automatically invoke TrueCrypt and just ask you for the password. After typing it in it will open an explorer box with all your files. If you close the explorer box without dismounting when you click the shortcut again it will just reappear. No messing around with the TrueCrypt interface or file names.
If you've made changes dismount the TrueCrypt container so it gets written back to Dropbox. Also make sure some time passes between the dismount and shutting down your computer so Dropbox can resync the container.
