I don't think so:

The $30 Unlimited Web & Text with 100 min talk plan works only with T-Mobile Phones purchased from a Walmart store or from Walmart.com.

The T-Mobile prepaid $30 unlimited Web (up to 5GB of 4G LTE mobile data, then throttled to 2G/Edge until end of billing cycle) - UNL text with 100 mobile minutes is available.

Choice of regular (full size) or micro or nano Sim - they are, in fact, the same Sim cards used for postpaid (Simple Choice/No Contract - w. approved credit) and prepaid plans (with single-use activation code) Regular cost is $10 shipped UPS Ground and $1 when it's on sale & often FREE when promotion is really on - I always keep extra on hand for visiting friends, they generally do not expire for another year or so. The key is to do the ONLINE activation yourself (unless you are at Walmart & sales know what they are doing) - DIY is the easiest and in 10 minutes, you are done & good to start using it.

It is "buried" under the PAY AS YOU GO prepaid plan, and you can only select it on a new activation - you can transfer or port your existing mobile # from another carrier to this line (some users reported that they can select this plan even when it is moved from another active T-Mobile account, as long as a new SIM card is used ...) T-Mo corporate stores cannot do this at their retail locations, for whatever reasons. You can also get a newly assigned mobile # from T-Mo as part of the activation, cool if you are using Google Voice or VOIP to manage your multi-device ringing & calling, etc.

If you have extra new/unused Sim cards from T-Mo, you can get this setup to see how it worked. You will need to add $30 funds to start using it - for 30 days of service - and you manage the account online under My T-Mobile.

You can provide your secured credit card info to T-Mo online to charge your account (taxes will be added) and option to do auto-renewal, you can using prepaid refill cards to add funds to it, and you can purchase online refills from retailers and short code/online add those long PIN #s to credit them to your account - once it's acknowledged, you will get SMS confirmation and your services will be active.

Coverage at major US cities & towns is excellent, 4G / LTE is fast and even 3G HSPA/+ is quite fast, and 2.5G/Edge is perfectly workable for non-streaming applications, slow but usable for GPS/mapping & basic email or even surfing for news, and, of course, mobile OLCI for your flights, etc. with the installed Apps on your devices.

Start here, scroll down to the bottom / lower left - see it @ http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-plans Part of the fineprints: This plan is only available for ... devices activated on T-Mobile.com Take my words at face value for what it's worth - if you have an unlocked 3G device, compatible with AT&T or T-Mo, it will most likely work perfectly on the plan - as long as you are using one of the new Sim Card. Older T-Mo Sim cards trimmed/cut to fit do NOT work.

Have fun & enjoy your near-Fios speed on the network, please do not abuse it as tethering is possible (I only use that for "emergencies")

Does this mean a MicroSIM only? My device only takes MiniSIMs unfortunately (the adapters will break it due to the design of the SIM slot). Thanks though!

No, not at all - the key to using T-Mo's $30 unlimited web/text & 100 minutes prepaid plan is to get & use a NEW sim card, the nano (for i5S, etc.) microSim (Nexus 4's and 5's) or regular (not sure if that's what you are referring to, the "old" full size, regular Sim, that fit my drawer collection of old LG, Motorola, Sony Ericson, Huawei, Nokia & HTC's going back 10+ years.

I don't like using adapters/converters as some of them will jam up inside the slots, depending on the design & they have been cited for causing problems with the Nexus 5. I do however, move the active Sim card around, sometimes just to play around (flashing custom rom & kernel, etc.) so I'm careful to avoid doing "surgical" extraction of jams.

I should also note that once you get this new plan activated, whether using a new number or porting existing one (no fees for doing so) - you can move the Sim card to another compatible device (thus, the Sim adapter is very useful, use & proceed with caution at one's own risk) - including tablets and iPads with 3G or 4G "radios" - 5GB of 4G data every 30 days is really a lot for us, especially when we use ultra-fast Fios WiFi for streaming videos - between Mrs. L and my line, we have 10GB of 4G LTE data each month - dropped that into an iPad2 or turn on WiFi hotspot on the smartphone, and the Nexus 7 WiFi model will play nicely & tethering off it..

It's one of the best-kept open secrets among T-Mo USA users, at $30/mo for each line - it's a bargain vs. paying $15 a day for #hotel's enhanced WiFi package (and, often limited to 1 active device only - if not using a "workaround" solution) The closet T-Mo tower for me, according to Open Signal now, is about 1/2 mile away and I'm pulling around 20MB down and 8MB upstream - and for mobile access, how much faster do one need ...

You cannot get the $30 plan in a tmobile store. You can either try to get a simcard at a walmart and then activate it online or the best option is to order one from the tmobile website ahead of time if you can.

Order the sim you need for your device here: http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/sim-card

After you receive it you must activate the $30 plan online only: http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-activate . Do not call.

For someone visiting the USA that only needed data, wouldn't it be cheaper to just get an iPad SIM and activate the service accordingly daily/monthly? [I can't remember if it required a USA based address for AT&T]

International travel TO the US
I can't find any info on buying a 30 day SIM card for use in the US for international travellers to the US with coverage for the Utah and Gulf Coast of Florida areas - mainly rural.

I have an Android Galaxy Ace 2 and my network has provided an unlock code so I can buy a SIM in the UK to use. Has anyone come across Tel Away? I'm thinking of trying it. https://www.telaway.co.uk

It's my understanding that the worldwide model of the Galaxy Ace 2 is quadband GSM only, so you'll be stuck with AT&T or one of its MVNOs, and even then you'll only have 2G access. Your best bet is probably one of the prepaid operators like aio wireless or StraightTalk; at least with StraightTalk you should be able to walk into any U.S. Walmart location and buy a SIM card (just make sure it's an AT&T network SIM, not a T-Mobile network SIM).

Just to be sure, you should be able to check coverage and compatibility here for StraightTalk: http://stbyop.com/straighttalk/check-compatibility.html.

For anyone UK based (or not), it is worth looking at getting a Three UK PAYG SIM card. For £10 / £!5 a 30 day package can be bought which includes free incoming calls, 3000 UK texts, a chunk of data and of free UK calls in a number of countries including the UK. There are plenty of Ebay sellers.

T-Mo prepaid combi-Sim is FREE for limited time, order a spare or 2 now

Fellow FT'rs - this is for T-Mobile USA Prepaid combi-Sim (Standard or Micro) for most devices (i.e. Nexus 5) - iPhone 5 users, order the nano-Sim. The activation code is included in the package - needed for easy self-setup online. Shipped free (UPS ground, 2 to 4 days to most USA addresses only)

http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/p...750&PID=552179

MSRP for this is $10 for each kit, on sale usually for 99 cents and now for a limited time, FREE (again.) During checkout, provide a credit card for verification purposes only - it will not be charged.

Get 1 or 2 as spare, the code and the Sim card kit unused should be valid for 12+ months as indicated on the sealed kit's panel. Oversea visiting friends always appreciate getting one on arrival. Many T-Mobile markets (including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco) have the 1900 band active for HSPA+ compatible with iPhones with 4G LTE speed. If you are not certain of coverage and/or traveling to rural area & outside major cities, do not get it - but, it is free & you can load as little as $10 to start coverage, using the $3 daily plan with unlimited calling & texting, and up to 200MB 4G/HSPA coverage for each day. Hotel chains charged as much as $15 daily for access & coverage as broadband isn't always free or included.

For mostly mobile data access, I recommend signing up for the $30 monthly plan with unlimited texting, 100 voice minutes and up to 5 GB of 4G/LTE data - it is only good for new activation (you can port/transfer another mobile number or obtain a new mobile #) Please read all disclosures & fine prints - disclaimer: I have no affiliation whatsoever with T-Mobile. Order the correct Sim card for your device - up to 3 Sims can be ordered. Enjoy !

I use AT&T's new 'AIO' prepaid network. Must admit I'm happy so far... used to use Straight Talk.

They do have a referral program - shoot me a PM if you wish to be referred.

Besides the address, they may not offer the same month to month plans if it's put in devices other than iPads or other tablets.

iPad has a UI that lets you activate and pay for a given plan within the device itself.

That UI probably requires a US address for the credit card which you'd use to pay for the service?

Plus it may not allow tethering (or the built-in "Personal Hotspot" feature).
