that you use https://imo.im and that apparently works, although I've not tried it myself, I have a Three phone that I use for Skype so I can use that anywhere there is a signal without any data charges.

So I got mine home and I really like it. It's very solid, the screen resolution is good and responsive, swift browsing and true multi tasking. I plan to buy the OEM mini keyboard next.

I'm also looking at the keyboard although they are out of stock on the BlackBerry UK webstore. I may have to look at getting one from the USA, or a another brand. I sat watching Doctor Who on Saturday on it in Westfield when I realised I wouldn't get home in time to see it on the telly.

I've just noticed they've dropped the price of the other sizes, the 16GB ones are only £109 so I might buy a couple of them as Christmas presents.

Ive been using imo on my blackberry handset for some time...works fine for skype messaging, but the fairly big shortfallings are that it doesn't do skype calling, and only works over wi-fi. Blackberry REALLY needs a skype app (and i'm not prepared to go to verizon for it- and it will not work on non verizon handsets)

I thought that the reason there was no Skype app for Blackberry was down to Skype not Blackberry. I read somewhere that Skype had some sort of exclusive deal with Verizon in the US (and possibly Three in the UK). There used to be iSkoot for Blackberry and that worked until Qualcomm bought iSkoot and shut that down, if I'm wrong on that I apologise to Qualcomm.

EDIT: This seems to back up what I thought http://www.gomonews.com/whats-the-st...kberry-client/

Yep- down to skype but they have an exclusive deal with verizon for their blackberry handsets.
Have tried multiple times, many different very geeky ways to get it working on both my t-mobile(US) blackberry and my orange(uk) blackberry and its having none of it. Can get it to install after some long winded geekery, but not get past boot up screen- it just wont do it unless it is on verizon, so they have it locked down pretty tight.
New blackberry 10 leak screenshots however show a skype app on the homescreen, so there may be hope yet!

I believe there is a way to sideload Android Skype app on the Playbook. I am not sure if it does video yet; but I will find out and report later. Skype on BB10 would be really sweet though.

Word from Blackberry World is that AppWorld will soon support movie and music downloads.

Another happy playbook owner here! I carry it with me almost everywhere i go. My bold is pretty much used for voice only now.

My wife has adopted mine. It's used for watching downloads of Downton Abbey and various movies or tv shows while on her commute.

I've used the remote control feature over the weekend and being able to control the thing using my 'Berry was excellent. Having attached it to a large screen via HDMI I was able to use the 'Berry as a remote control pointer/mouse and it worked flawlessly. Very happy person here. :)

Can you get the TV to display 1920x1080 if that's its native resolution?
