Yes, lots of them. I've been getting app updates all day. Developers could submit updates since the announcement last week, and the app store reviewers have been pushing them through very quickly.

Yes, I tested a few including the Grey Lady and mentioned them in my revew, which is online here.

Why have they stopped selling anything other than 16GB iPad 2? :|

It's no longer a current model and anything beyond 16 GB couldn't be sold without competing with the new iPad. Apple has done this before with base level iPhones. If someone can't afford the base price ($499), there's one alternative and it's not a bad one.

Got mine. Love it. Love the voice dictation, which just dictated this post. I sold mine on eBay made enough to pay for almost all of this one.

I played with dication on Pages. Very impressed. I had some "umms" and "ahhs" that I say inadvertently when dictating, but it was smart enough not to put them in.

Does it use the Dragon Dictate engine for the speech recognition?

at this point

at this point, people LEARNING how to dictate is the bigger hurdle. Putting in punctuation, capitalization, etc is not in our normal workflow. But, if you do it it works pretty well.

I'm sure it's going off to nuance and doing the transcoding

Taking this back to old technology, I do recall looking into buying a top quality SW/FM radio in the US market and bringing back to Europe about 10 years ago. I gave up the idea when I found out the radio spectrum ranges are different between the US and Europe. Apparently, some spectrum we have available here for consumer use is reserved for military over there, or vice versa.

Not sure if this applies to phones/ipads etc, but I think the OP is wise to check this out before buying. I hope someone will share the answer here!

I think they will work anywhere, just not on the highest speed network. Im trying to confirm that with the Verizon one, but it certainly seems that way, especially since the Verizon one will work on ATT in the US, although again at reduced speed. My current iPad 2 from ATT works more or less anywhere.

I think only Apple and Nuance knows for sure (like many things Apple). I can't describe it, but it seems more fluid than a desktop program (I have a Nuance program for my iMac), and easier than on my iPhone. I will have to try it out at work.

Thanks. I am very interested in this functionality. I use Dragon on my Mac and also use my iPhone to dictate Dragon compatible files I upload to my assistant to transcribe as a combination of speech to text (Dragon PC product) and manual intervention. If I could do longer dictations in apps (which in checking it says you can do it in 3rd party apps) on the iPad that could really change my workflow.
