FlyerTalk Lead PHP Developer Opportunity!!!

Hi all,

My name is Tilman Kneepkens- Corporate Recruiter at Internet Brands in Los Angeles.

I'm currently looking for a Lead PHP Developer for our Travel vertical. A large portion of your work would deal with coding new features for http://www.flyertalk.com/. The remainder of this person's responsibilities deal with architectural leadership on numerous projects which would also deal with sites developed in languages such as Ruby, C#, JavaScript, and J2EE. You can see the job description here: http://bit.ly/LeadPHPDevTravel

This person would be leading a team which includes developers, webmasters, and a few others. The plan is to reconstruct the FlyerTalk site more towards and make it a social flagship. This person will have the opportunity to work with multiple teams within the travel vertical as well as other verticals such as team working on FitDay and mobile team. The goal of the mobile version of the site is to add real value to FlyerTalk, not just a mobile skin; for example facilitating airport networking by adding a feature that allows you to find other FlyerTalk users in the airports they visit. The IB Travel Network just cracked comScore's top 25 Travel Networks. We are also continuing to acquire more sites in the travel vertical.

My contact information is below - if you'd like more information, please let me know.

Thanks!!

Hot dog! An opportunity to work within the belly of the monster! (And we will know where to find you!)

(The posts have now been "approved" by a moderator - early posts with URL links are suppressed by the IB/ FT spam suppression protocols until approved by a moderator in the forum the post is made.)

Good luck!

Internet Brands, the company who owns FlyerTalk, has a tech team who covers FlyerTalk. We and they both want more development for FlyerTalk than can be done with staff currently employed by IB. This represents a ramp up by IB resulting in more tech development for FT.

More fun features like the "Sign In with Facebook" button that people petitioned to get rid of?

No, they don't have get rid of it. They have to kept it. You can access Facebook once you sign in. Your username & password will be automatically to get on FT. You don't have put your username or password on FT. If you have Facebook account. You will be automatically to login.

Will this mean better mobile offerings? The present mobile apps and the mobile website are a bit pants and the mobile apps haven't been updated for several months.

I am confused.

Is this a real new feature re posting URL's, or some kind of "in joke"?
.

We use software to reduce spam. The most common place to experience spam is in the first few posts of a new poster. For the first handful of posts from a new member, if they post an active link, it goes into a queue for a moderator to approve. More than half of such posts are spam. By using this system, you don't have to see ads for viagra, cell phones, and the like.

What SanDiego1K said.

IIRC, you run your own website/s or IBB, so I am a little surprised that you are not aware of the built-in spam filtering mechanism on new posters posting hyperlinks on FT.

FWIW, here's an old FT thread that talked about it: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/techn...spam-trap.html

As a long-time member of an IB-owned travel website, the short answer is "they aren't". IB bought the site in 2006, and the software running the site has not been upgraded since 2007.
