IPhone 4 needing reset to access data

My IPhone 4 keeps losing data service.... I still have normal phone service but if I want to access data Im forced to turn off the phone. When I restart, I immediatetly get back data service. Any ideas...?

I havent updated my OS.... can this be part of the problem...?

Thanks,
Gaucho100K

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

Assuming its a SIM-based iPhone, take out the SIM, give the contact points a clean and re-insert.

What is displayed on the screen (3G, E or O)?

Does it access data through wifi ok?

Does activating "airplane" mode and then turning that back off give you data access again?

Att, Verizon or Sprint?

1) Yes, it is a SIM phone. I will try this.

2) When the data works, it will show 3G, and sometimes E or O... when the data function dies, it will show none of these, only the normal phone carrier logo.

3) Yes, WiFi data function works well.

Thanks.

Ive tried this... but no, it will not revive the data.

I dont live in the US, so I use a local Argentine Carrier... Personal.

You can reset many functions on an Apple by pressing the Home and Power button until the turn off slider appears. Instead of turning the phone off, just cancel. It is almost like respringing on a jailbroken iPhone.

Are you on IOS 5 and jail broken? I just updated to IOS 5 now that there is an untethered jail break and have the same issue when I run a couple of jail broken apps. I have to totally restart the phone to get data service back.
The little research i have done, it is a know issue.
