Quick dropbox question
I have a quick Dropbox question. I used to use foldershare, which became Windows Livesync, which Microsoft then rigged so it wouldn't work any more for XP to try to force us all to upgrade.
I want to put this on a new computer that connects to the Internet through a wireless hotspot. It's a desktop machine and in another town so not easy to move. I only get about 5 gb of bandwidth a month with my wireless, so setting this up will eat virtually all of my bandwidth.
I was just wondering if I could copy the files onto a jump drive and manually put them in a folder named dropbox on the new computer and then set up the program, essentially pre-syncing the computer.
Is this possible?

Another Dropbox feature is LAN sync; I set up Dropbox on a new computer yesterday and the other computers in the house pushed most of the files over much quicker than Dropbox's servers could have.

According to this thread in the dropbox forums

it will work just fine, copy the files and dropbox will work it all out as to not needing to copy them again. I have not tried it to confirm though.
