mobile guide based on Samsung Galaxy
Hi,
I am thinking about renting this mobile guide "Ask Ting Ting" for Hong Kong. It is based on the Samsung Galaxy S. So I know this phone, but I am curious about this software. As the website says, this travel guide comes with HD videos and works also as hotspot for wifi internetaccess. What also attracts me is that it is a partner of miles&more, so I can earn miles by renting it... Anybody experience with this travel gadget? Speed of the provided internet?

I had the same thought and was doing some research so I found your post in here. I studied the Ask Ting Ting webpage and read a few articles about it. Like you mentioned before, the partnership to Miles&More sounds interesting to me, too. But how did you decide? Did you give it a try?

Hi Sven,
yes I decided to rent it for two days. Of course I was also hunting for miles
But I have to say this Ask Ting Ting seems to me quiet innovative. It has many recommendations and the videos are very professional. But I was more into the free wifi and the free international calls. The Internet was fast and easy to connect to my laptop and I called my wife at home more often as usual on business trips
Unfortunatly I didn't have time for much sightseeing, but I visited a few sights, which were ranked as Top 10. But I am sure if I had more time I would have tried these video walking tours. If you have any specific question, let me know. Maybe I can help, but I didn't try every feature.

UI of Ask Ting Ting?
Thank you for your answer! How about the user interface? Is it easy to handle? I am just a bit concerned, because I had some bad experience with different Apps. So I don't want to rent a Smartphone with a preinstalled system, if the user interface is not structured well.... So what do you think?

User Interface ask Ting Ting
Hi Sven,
I can't complain about the UI. Well structured, easy to handle and nice design. You have a home screen, where the icons will lead you to the recommendations and general information. The second main screen is the menu screen, which leads you to every useful function, like telephone, wifi, navigation etc... I liked that everything was connected, in example: I watched the video of Man Mo Temple and by one click I was in the navigation system, seeing my current location and how to get to the temple.

referral
Ah what I forgot to mention before: I noticed a new referral program "Refer your Friend" of this company on their website. You have to complete a typical referral form, so "your friend" will get an email with infos and a code. If she or he will make the booking, you will get 4 Euros. So maybe if you want to rent it, make a friend of you happy !?! ;-)
