Data on air traffic
Hello all
I am note sure this is the correct place to post this but it is somehow related to travel and technology.
I am working on a project for which I would need data on commercial air traffic for the last 20 years with a split per continent... it sounds easy but have been unable to find that so far!!
The key data I need:
Kilometres Flown (thousands)
Passenger-Kilometres Flown (thousands)
Available Seat-Kilometres (thousands)
Passenger Load Factor (%)
I have looked at IATA (http://www.iata.org/ps/publications/Pages/wats.aspx ) but it covers only 10 years of history. ICAO
splits everything per airline and it is therefore an nightmare to extract...
Would you have another source or I am missing something?
Thanks a lot for your help

I think no matter where you find it, it will be a nightmare to consolidate and collect.
You could try the annual reports for the airlines, but again it would be 20 reports (one per each year) per airline, and it may or may not be in the report.
Second the recommendation for BTS, it won't give you all you want, but will most certainly be a good source.

Thanks for your replies.
Indeed, it is much more difficult to find than one might think... I am now working with specialized data which might be the easiest at the end...
Thanks again

Generally speaking, the Boyd Group has the best data on aviation. You can visit them over at http://www.aviationplanning.com/
Some of their data is free but most of it is not. You could try a polite request for some of what you need -- they are a small shop and fairly friendly.
