Tracking your flights
Has anyone used any kind of program to track their flying such as flightmemory.com?
I like the concept and the map, and I guess if i pay i can get a better map and display, but anything else out there?

I use flightmemory, but also openflights.org. Each has some features that are better than the other, so that's why I use two.
The thing that annoys me to no end about flightmemory is the map, and how you have to pick one domestic map (I have a lot of domestic US and domestic Canada segments, and can't see them at the same time). You also can't zoom, etc. The maps on openflights are much better, IMO. Plus, I like the fact you can download your map as a .kml and import into Google Earth, its pretty cool. You can also easily filter your flights in openflights, but not in Flightmemory.
However, flightmemory does have some advantages. Its easier to track other non-map stats, such as specific aircraft you've been in, and I like the fact that future flights aren't considered in your stats until you have taken them. I also like that fm will post to my twitter, and openflights to facebook.
What I would really like to see is one of these integrate with tripit, so that itineraries posted there would auto-populate.

Haha - that made me laugh! Here we are talking about Flightmemory and Openflights, and then comes the king of flight tracking - Excel!

They have an import function that works OK. I did notice just a couple of flights I'll have to tidy up, but I moved the data over from Flightmemory in just a few minutes.

Little more tedious then I want it to be, but much easier than retyping all data. I agree - I had to clean up a few things too, but all in all, not too bad for moving everything.

You can export data out of FM and import into openflights. You have to export page by page from FM, and then import each file. There are instructions on openflights on how to do it.

Thanks for telling us about Openflights.org. I just spent two and half hours logging in four years of flights. Noticed that I messes up on Flight Memory so this was nice to do. Much better quality maps and you can zoom in and out. Does it all and it exports. ^
