You can export data out of FM and import into openflights. You have to export page by page from FM, and then import each file. There are instructions on openflights on how to do it.
Little more tedious then I want it to be, but much easier than retyping all data. I agree - I had to clean up a few things too, but all in all, not too bad for moving everything.
I also use a spreadsheet. I was using openflights for a while for the map novelty. I just have a worksheet in my spreadsheet which formats data in the manner openflights wants and I kick that out to CSV and import.
