IIRC, it won't even open without an internet connection. Tried just a couple days ago.

Not sure. According to the market and their website I linked above it says it is available offline. I am going to try it out next week myself.

Well, I have it now just searching 'Flyertalk'.

I'm wondering when it was added to the store.

Haven't really played with it yet. Reviews?

jfe Jan 25, 2012 10:40 am

Just started using the Android app, not too bad

jfe Jan 25, 2012 10:41 am

Also, if you cannot see it on the market, probably it's not compatible with your device

One thing I noticed is that if I just minimize it instead of logging out, it retains my credentials and I do not have to login again the next time I want to use it. Also, the Forums button at the bottom of the main screen does not work for me, instead I go to Settings and choose Forums from there.

Overall is is a nice way to read FT when on the go!

Just searched, and didnt find it again..
This would be surprising since my phone has Android gingerbread V2.3..

tkey75 Jan 26, 2012 7:12 am

The application needs a 'go to last post' feature. Certain threads can be over 1k pages long an it takes too long to scroll to the end.

Edit to add: and when i reply, take me to my post. Not the beginning of the thread.

tkey75 Jan 26, 2012 7:16 am

And give me a way to refresh my subscribed list.

Am I not seeing something here? It seems to me that some very basic functions are missing.

Did you notice the caveat "This app is compatible with some of your devices"?

If the search is performed with the mobile device, incompatible apps will not be listed.

Yes I did

You mean to tell me there's a FT app, and I had no idea?

txrandom Jan 29, 2012 9:05 am

AwardWallet - If I'm curious about point balances on the road.
BBC News - I like BBC better than CNN, Fox, etc.
Wifi Tether - For rooted phones, no need to pay the wireless tether fee.

N965VJ Feb 3, 2012 11:25 am

Using the FT app right now for the first time.

Edit: looks like my sig was droped

jfe Feb 3, 2012 11:34 am

DropBox right now, with the auto upload, like Google+, and an extra 5GB storage

Juice defender is great! Made a huge difference on my HTC Sensation.

You can always upgrade yours if you haven't!

Chrome browser for Android is da BOMB.

The ability to upgrade depends on the device. Android version 2.3.5 is the newest available for my phone.

The sync feature is a nice add-on, but for the average Joe I don't think it's a compelling reason to root the device. Unless there's other features on it that I'm missing...

FireFox (the android version sucks BTW) has a similar sync feature

Really like the Chrome for Android, the only bad thing is the lack of Flash support.

Uh, no. It depends on the device. My Droid X isn't going to get upgraded (most likely), so I won't see ICS until I get a new phone. Which isn't going to happen for a while (another year or two).

Not really. If you root, you can put ICS on your device (caveat: unless your device is really old). The Droid X can run the latest miui for sure, and from what I see on xda-developers there are a few other ICS builds you can try. CM9 will also be available soon and Droid X will be supported.

I just flashed my x10 yesterday from the att 2.1 to NA 2.3.3. I don't think my phone can get ICE?

FWIW, I have always used Dolphin Lite as my browser. I find Opera and Firefox slow

jfe Feb 16, 2012 4:19 pm

Touch Retouch

Pretty amazing

AirDroid is another app like WiFi File Explorer, with a better (I think) user interface. It allows file transfers to and from android devices that are on the same WiFI network without using a USB cable. Free on the Android Marketplace and the Amazon App Store.

If you're willing to root it, there are some ICS options for your phone.
