Anello Backpacks (Japanese) for Men

Stupid question. These seem like excellent bags and have a great reputation. On my visit to Japan, I noticed only women with them. Are these not considered unisex?

The wide mouth Anello backpack is marketed towards women https://search.rakuten.co.jp/search/mall/anello/ Men usually carry a 2/3-way bag with a long shoulder strap/hanging bag for work or a sling-type bag. The North Face B C Fuse backpack was also really popular among younger men a few years ago https://item.rakuten.co.jp/himarayaod/0000000763401/. It also gets a little murky like this type of satchel bag is unisex in Japan but does not quality as a non-Asian man bag https://item.rakuten.co.jp/auc-superfrog/10004139/

That said, I don't think non-Asians would necessarily notice as they're not aware of the brand positioning?

See Anello bags all over Hong Kong but I don't recall seeing a man using one. Hmmm...

on aesthetics alone they resemble the fjallraven kanken which is hugely popular in europe. those are not marketed or positioned at a specific gender, though theyre probably seen more frequently on women

Here in Southeast Asia, they are fairly unisex. Lots of guys have them, especially the non-framed styles. Fewer guys tend to carry the framed wide-mouth styles.
