international rollaboard with backpack that fits on

I always travel carry on only, and I am looking for a new set of luggage. What I am looking for is an international size rollaboard with a backpack that will hook on for through the airport etc.

I have seem the Tumi brand has one, very nice but perhaps a little $$$ for my needs.

Are their any other products you know of that might fit the bill? It does not have to be a set, or the same brand. I have trawled the net looking for a back pack that hooks on to t suitcase, but Tumi seems to be the only one.

Thanks for the input.

What sort of "hook on" are you looking for? Just the little hook that comes out of the top pocket of a 19 or 20" international size rolling bag?

I have an Eagle creek that's no longer made (there are new models that are similarly sized) that has a hook you could put another bag on to roll, but I haven't used it for anything other than a pillow or a shopping bag with lunch. I'm always wearing the backpack when I go through airports as it's less tippy that way.

A current Eagle Creek 20" bag also has the hook in a top zippered front pocket http://shop.eaglecreek.com/tarmac-20...2_c_111_cl_313

Are you just referring to this bag strap?

Many suitcases come with similar straps (my discontinued Victorinox Mobilizer NXT 5.0 20" suitcase is a case in point), and many backpacks come with luggage handle pass-throughs.

My backpack, the Everki Versa Premium backpack, has a pass-through on the back.

Wow thanks guys, so many good ideas.

The Everki is the thing I am looking for, a backpack with a pass thru. I just did not know the correct terminology.

I find my back pack with laptop, Mac book pro, in can be heavy on long airport walks.

I have never heard of that brand, will investigate some more.

In that case, it may just come down to the style you're looking for and the budget. Briggs & Riley is another good-looking business-oriented backpack, although similarly priced to the Everki (which is to say, not cheap). I like this one.

Ebags seems to have quite a few options of backpacks with luggage pass-throughs on their site - including their own brand, which usually gets good reviews. I don't own the backpack but have had many other of their bags and think they're a good value for the money. Not as "business" oriented as Tumi or B&R but I'm not sure how much of a priority that is. Victorinox has a nice option as well.

I have one similar to this, it has that pass through on the back : http://www.amazon.com/High-Sierra-Bu.../dp/B00K8897HQ

If you have Costco nearby, they also sell it in store for about $40.

Which Costco(s) have you seen this in, and how recently? I've only seen one Costco recently that has a backpack, and it def doesn't have a passthru....

Some great suggestions. I did come across the ebags as a possibility. I kind of liked some of the funkier colours. Black is nice, but variety good too.

The Briggs and Riley seem to be very good quality too.

I guess as always you invest at the start or spend more often down the road.

Now seeing the option with some of these, you have shared, for checkpoint friendly features. Now that is something I had not even heard of.

You are all a mine of wonderful information.
