"new" video - how to fold a suit & shirt
This can probably be merged into the packing thread, but I also thought it deserves its own thread for a bit.

(I saw it on wimp.net, I don't claim to have "discovered" it).

That is a really good video!
The work with the shirt in itself was amazing.
For you big guys both the suit and the shirt were small in size.

Thanks for posting. Funny, with all the focus on compression, it actually never occurred to me that leaving some air around a garment could help to reduce crushing! I am going to try it with a silk dress next time I need to pack one, to see how it goes with more fluid fabrics (might result in a sorry crumpled heap at the bottom of the ziplock unless I fold it in tissue first). Perhaps I can even get my husband to abandon his slim carry on garment bag if he can master the suit folding technique!

I bet the shirts would go that way into an Eagle Creek packit... I wonder where I can get a ziploc bag that big? I don't think I've seen them that large at the grocery store. I've been using the "twist one arm inside out and fold it into itself" method for blazers and suit jackets (seen at the top of this forum) but I don't like what it does for the lapels and it's easy to wrinkle the sleeve.

I rarely travel with suits these days, but the method here looks pretty good.
Here's an old thread on folding shirts.

Post 8 is the method I use.

The suit folding technique looks interesting! Will give it a try this week. However, has anyone ever tried packing with the suit in the bag with air like that? I imagine the suit would shift constantly in the bag and lose it's folded shape somewhat causing wrinkles? If anyone has tried it, please let us know of your experiences.
With the shirt folding, I take a dry clean bag and split it open so its one long piece of plastic, then interleave it around folded shirts. Works well and is cheap!

Actually the suit fabric and trousers together might give enough stiffness that it isn't going to move as much as we might think.
