I recently found this thread, and it reawakened my interest in still photography - I have been making videos for some years. However I take a good few stills anyway (all point and shoot, as time limited, and anyway that's the camera I have, there's a limit to what you can cart around with you) and the advantage stills have is you can lose yourself in them for as long as you like, nothing is forcing you to move on to the next scene.

I thought I'd upload a few of mine, first is from a driving trip around California in October 2007. We arrived in SF late and overnighted near the airport, next morning still on UK time we woke very early and just set off for the coast, early morning mist still around, as here.

A pumpkin farm

Then the coast, with the cliffs still casting a shadow

Wow, now I am second-guessing my decision not to go there on my honeymoon a few years back! Beautiful shots!

(Not really, we had a great time in Aussie, including Heron Island).

Beautiful shots that make me want to go back. Bula!

But... déjà vu all over again. Here's mine from years ago (scanned off a print, so not the best quality.)

Small world.

Very nice! Love the shallow depth of field. ^

Lots of other great recent pictures, too. Always enjoy seeing this thread bumped!
