What was your opinion on San Marino?
I have always had it on my list to try, add another country and stop by during Italy trips but never made it happen.
It looks very cool with various viewpoints/towers, history and shopping to keep one busy for 1-2 nights if in the Bologna or similar area but rarely hear anything positive about it. Might just be off the radar for most?
Any hotel recommendations?

In fact if you were in say Florence, or nearby Umbria, simply do a day trip by car. The is a very hilly nation. Keep that in mind. We loved hiking all over working ourselves upward all the way to the top. There are elevator/gondola to bring people up/down as well. Be sure you stay for the sunset (for photo-ops). Check in at the "Passport" stamping office to get your backet list checked off!
If you are adventurous, you most likely will enjoy the visit.

From Itsukushima shrine at Miyajima ( JR train and ferry from Hiroshima ) taken last week at close to high tide
