Gild Hall, A Thompson Hotel, NYC (New York), 2021:

Pigeon & bird crap, dirty window and the light from the window/floor across illuminated through our slat blind and affected our sleep unfortunately.

David

p.s. Also, the pigeons decided to roost at 6 am eastern on this window sill (which again unfortunately was 3 am pacific for us)

I think it is probably quite common in rural areas. Besides their own sewer system, I don't think there was any municipal water at the motel in Minnesota. Here where I live on Orcas Island, two of the bigger resorts--Rosario Resort and Spa and Outlook Inn--are on municipal water and sewer systems. Doe Bay has municipal water and their own septic system. West Beach has both their own water and septic systems.

New Yoru New York, Las Vegas

I admit, I debated a little before I posted this shot. I think it qualifies. Reasons: it has parking lot, roof tops, construction site, and even oil storage tanks to boot! What do you think?

Not sure - this thread is all from the perspective of the photographer as to what qualifies as "crappy". Personally, I'd say your shot is not because there's far more than the rooftops and fuel storage in the frame - you get a good bit of sky, the mountainous backdrop and LAS as an airport. Many/most of the shots I've uploaded here are nothing but a fuzzy dirty window, bird crap and no/partial view.

But from an allset2travel perspective, you may have wanted, for instance, a Las Vegas Strip skyline view and this, for you, qualifies as crappy.

Hi,

I think one FTer asked in the Las Vegas thread about hotels ( Mandalay Bay vs MGM for airport views). It did not occur to me that NYNY was another option ( probably limited rooms with this view)
Thanks!

Personally I think it is a beautiful view!

Regards

Thanks.

I have to go back to my journal for this. At NYNY, my room was on high floor with Room # xx14. The view of the airport was not great, but with a rubber hood (prevent glare from window) attached to lens to shoot at an angle. Looking down is the intersection of S Las Vegas Blvd (The Strip) & Tropicana Ave. If one is plane watching (and shooting photo), a 300-600mm lens would be perfect!

Hyatt House San Ramon, CA

On the bright side, no privacy concerns. The room is also near the kitchen vent so there was a nice bacon aroma in our room to wake up to this morning.

With apologies to allset2travel, when I stay at the FS LV, I specifically request this view. It is great if you are a planespotter.

Rather unusual to have a hotel located right next to an upscale residence.
