Have you explored the holster system from Peak Design? That may fit your needs. I'm not sure how much you usually need to store in your daypack but I have a LowePro Flipside 300 and that is sufficient for my mirrorless body and 2-3 lenses, it has a little zippered interior pouch for lens pens/cloths/charging cables/rocket blower, and it has a mesh net for a water bottle and an exterior pocket for papers/pen/keychain, etc. Small enough to carry on just about any jet even a Bombardier Dash or Embraer.

Yes I do but I am refusing to on the grounds that my inferior zipper issues has not been address.

How much is this gadget?

That is more than 3 times the cost of the LEICA double ended rear lens cap.
