Slideshow software for PC

Any recommendations for a fairly easy to use software that makes Slideshows? I'm trying Magix Dvd Photostory 9 (HORRIBLE).....the windows on board software isn't great.

I'm looking for a big variety of effects like fades, transitions, etc., without a lot of work on my part (i.e. automatically done).

Have you tried PowerPoint? If you want to show photos in a slideshow, then PP gives you the choices of effects & transitions. In addition, you can superimpose text. Not to mention adding audio or voice on top. User interface is fairly easy.

Other options include video editing software such as PSE and some free ware out there.

For ease, there are tons out there. eg. Ulead DVD Pictureshow, although I think it's now rolled in DVD MovieFactory.

For highest quality DVD, I found Ulead DVD Pictureshow v2 best.

For highest quality Blu-ray, Magix Photostory at max DivxHD settings.

Wondershow DVD Slideshow Builder

I found this software online thru a Google search, and found it to be perfect. $69.

Here's a sample, this took all of 5 minutes to put together...

There is a freeware called XnView. The slideshow function works pretty well.

PowerPoint is an excellent choice....

If you have windows 7/vista, the built-in media player has a slideshow function...

In addition, the new ms live essentials photo software has a slide show feature as well

Animoto

I have not tried it yet, but consider Animoto.
The price is right.

Depends on how complicated you want the slideshow, but for very basic stuff, nothing beats Picasa.

Photodex has Proshow Gold and Proshow Producer that I've found to be user friendly and professional. Not cheap though, especially with their stylepacks they add so you can get more themes.
