Further Delay In Concorde Relaunch

Further Delay In Concorde Relaunch

British Airways suffered a setback in its attempts to get its supersonic Concorde aircraft back into service.

The airline admitted yesterday that plans for a test flight had fallen behind schedule.

The airline had hoped to stage proving flights by early May to test alterations made to one of its seven Concordes.

The timing of the tests was backed by the Anglo-French inter-governmental Concorde working group, which said in late March it expected a BA Concorde to conduct ground and test flights "during the next few weeks."

However, BA said it had "no timescale" for the flight and that modifications to the first Concorde, were only "two-thirds" complete.

BA's proving flight is a crucial part of the final stage of a testing

BA, Air France to relaunch Concorde together-paper

BA & AF will re-introduce Concorde flights at the same time, possibly in September, following final tests over the summer, the Guardian reported on Wednesday.

The newspaper quoted Air France sources as revealing the plans.

The sources said both companies would have to wait for the outcome of the air accident investigator's report into the Air France Concorde crash near Paris last July that killed 114 people.

A BA Concorde flew from LHR today on a three hours plus test flight and landed safely at RAF Brize Norton. It is due to have some further testing whilst at Brize, I guess the circuits a bit quiter than LHR.
