A Northwest Airlines jet headed for Los Angeles with 368 passengers aboard made an emergency landing at Tokyo's international airport yesterday after reporting an engine problem.

None of the passengers and about 20 crew on the Boeing 747 was injured, said Northwest Airlines spokeswoman Tamiko Kuniyoshi.

Northwest Flight 26 reported trouble in the No. 3 engine less than an hour and half after taking off from Japan's Kansai International Airport, near Osaka, and notified Narita airport.
