This is ridiculous!!! Obese American woman got kicked it off from the airlines. She was complaining to against an airlines. Because they didn't have extension the seatbelt. She filed lawsuit against to the airlines to violation of disabled passenger.

I would agree with you if this was an outbound flight -- especially considering the difficulty they had in trying to get her seated.

That said, whichever airline (Delta?) flew her to Europe should have done whatever is needed to put her on a return flight. If it can be done in one direction, it can be done for the other.

(For those who pity anyone sitting next to her, don't. She bought three tickets.)

Note that it said she gained weight on the trip. It doesn't say how much but apparently it was more than a few pounds.

Did you look at the pictures of the woman? This wasn't about seatbelt extenders, this was about a person so large that she would not fit down the aisle, in the loo or through an emergency exit door. Some articles about this case state that she had renal failure and had gained weight during her trip - that could easily have been 30 to 40 pounds of extra fluid, given her baseline size, and would explain why it was possible for her to fly outbound but not on the return.

Disability protection under U.S. law requires reasonable accommodation; (can't speak about EU law) when it takes the fire department to try to get a passenger into the plane, that is miles beyond what could be considered reasonable.

At least once in October she had gotten onto a plane without the fire department help.

It seems like DL may have flown her from the US to AMS in September with KL flying her from AMS to Hungary within a few hours of arriving at AMS in September. Around a month later, how much bigger had she become? Doubt she lost weight between her arrival to Europe in September and attempted October return to the US.

She wouldn't have fit into the bathrooms on any of the return flights and would have had to use adult diapers which would be just about impossible to change in private on board any of the flights. Even with three seats, the stink of soiled diapers and/or clothes could be an issue.
