How many -225s were built? Only a couple, I think.
The only time I saw one was in 1993 or 1994, at BDL (Windsor Locks, Connecticut), where it had been chartered to bring out hospital equipment.
Now the An-124, on the other hand... I've seen plenty of those.

FWIW, the folks at NYCAviation (who are pretty reliable on this sort of thing) suggest that it wasn't the 225 at ATL for the pump but a 124.

Wikipedia has the story. From a commercial standpoint they weren't really viable at the time. Now they get contracts for transportation jobs that only they can do. I don't know if it's enough to keep them above the floating line though. Anyway... read the wiki article on the AN-225; it's very informative.
