Cedar-Sinai CT-Scanners: If you think the Nude-O-Scopes are safe...
...then ask yourself, if something like this:
http://articles.latimes.com/2009/oct...cedars-sinai10
http://articles.latimes.com/2009/oct...cedars-sinai14
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/16/us/16radiation.html
http://www.latimes.com/news/science/...,5197990.story
http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/...,2855992.story
can happen at a top-notch hospital like Cedar-Sinai, do you really want to trust some GED flunky Smurf-clerks to set a machine that legally should only be operated by a radiologist?

Well thats pushing it, and the staff doesn't set it.
That being said, also believe the manufacturer could certainly adjust the system.
Wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a incident where a explosive was "internal", they could adjust it to look deeper.
Of course all the while telling you its safe, and for the good of all.

all 5 articles are about the same site cedar sinai. none of the "reporters" went out to find a second site that was running extra high ct scans. sort of like wsj quoting fox news quoting barrons quoting market watch quoting smart money. all one company(murdoch owned), and a bunch of cheap, incompentent reporters getting inches, and demogoging. i see we are generating a large usless bill for safety from the house for a one time occurnnce. maybe this even happens once a year/week. zero defects cost really big bucks.
CT scanners and tooth xrays are pretty safe. so are cars, airplanes and guns(??). but operators can screw up. sounds like the cedar sinai manchine was misset. ban all ct scanners??
i recently had a stroke. i have had about half a dozen ct scans. none of hair has fallen out.

OK, if the Smurf-clerks do not set the Nude-O-Scopes. who does?
No, I am not suggesting we dump CT scanners. But if they can be improperly set by a trained (and licensed) radiologist, why are we throwing all cautions to the wind with the Nude-O-Scopes?
Where is the regulation from the state and local authorities?
Meanwhile, unlike the CT-scanners, the Nude-O-Scopes cannot see into your anus or vagina (if you have one), and the Nude-O-Scopes are being used on some persons daily. Not all of us have had a CT-scan yet.

If passengers believe those Ray Machines will be properly, adequately or timely calibrated -- good luck to you with that. Call us in fifteen years and let us know how that third arm is doing.
GED flunkies? Harsh, maybe, but as I understand it a high school degree is not required for TSA employment.
Regarding the "isolated" Cedars Sinai over dose incdient, that is hardly isolated. Google such incidents. They are, unfortunately, all too common, at hospitals employing top line techs. Law firms advertise for such patients, showing just how common the over doses are.
But the TSA says its not an issue, so no one should worry. The machines were "tested." (Actually, there is no peer review literature on the machines and the Hopkins testing the TSA points to is now disavowed by Hopkins, since all they did was measure dose, not effect.) And, after all, look at the TSAs success record to date, surely we should simply listen and obey.
