Dvd Player
Anyone have a recommendation for a good one! We are traveling from SFO to LHR to Delhi, India! We have a 1 nights stay in London so I will be able to charge the battery then but if anyone has any tips on a good player I would appreciate it!
The only one I've thought about so far is the Mintek at Costco! Any thoughts???

How old is your kid?
Our toddler is fascinated by anything with buttons, and has an interest in taking everything he can get his hands on apart. I'm not sure if the standard handheld DVD players are built with children in mind.
We have a handheld Disney DVD player, and it has held up pretty well so far. They seem to be more rugged to withstand the extra abuse.

At the low and midend these are now commodity items, especially as its for a kid, go for the biggest screen at the cheapest price, test it to make sure the volume is "good" and its not too gigantic with battery on and you'll be fine.

Funny that this is posted today. I just bought a Polaroid 7" (PDM-0723) for an upcoming trip with my 20 month old. I selected this model because, as posted above my son will take/break anything he can get his hands on. This model has a screen that can twist and flip backwards (like a tablet pc) so he can not open and close it. It also starts back up quick if you close the lid.
In the past few months I have tried letting hime use my notebook which becomes a toy where you pull the keys off and throw them on the floor. I also borrowed the costco one which seemed to work ok.

For a child, I would not recommend the biggest screen at the cheapest price... I would spend a few extrta dollars on something that's a shade more durable, from a better-known brand. We spent $150 on an "Eddie Bauer" DVD player for our young son that we found on closeout at Target. It was actually an Audiovox unit with the Eddie Bauer brand stamped on it. Its jacks and connections broke or shorted out in less than six months, the onboard battery is of a format that's no longer made and so can't be replaced... so, we have to buy another one now. I would've spent the extra $50 to $100 on a better unit.

And I just bought my son the tiny Coby for $90, had I done it a year before the cheapest would have been twice that and the year before twice that, etc. The money "lost" in not buying a more expensive model will be recouped if you have to buy another because the prices keep dropping (although logically there may not be too much room for them to drop more, then again cheap crappy CD "walkmans" can sometimes be had for as little as $9!)
