Phuket with small child

We are considering going back to Phuket this year, but with our 12 month old child and had a few questions.

Was it difficult to find taxis where you could install a car seat? I know that tuk-tuks are common on the island, but we would want to have our son in a car seat. If this was a hassle, did you just end up using the hotel car service?

Also, has anyone had experience with finding a reliable babysitter? I would assume the major resort hotels provide this service or could make arrangements with a local daycare provider.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Actual metered taxis are uncommon in Phuket. If having a car seat is that important, you're probably best off renting a car, preferably with a local driver.
